Presentation Tools
In the past, my students and I have used and enjoyed great success with many of the presentation tools listed below. Emaze, Prezi, and Voicethread are now my go-to apps when I still want information, but don't want to look at the same old PowerPoint templates and layout time and time again. I like being able to get students out of their comfort zones so they are more willing to try new things in the future.
ClassFlow
ClassFlow is a comprehensive instructional delivery system that increases the depth of student and teacher engagement by providing interactive and collaborative use of classroom devices, digital curriculum and assessments for learning.
Emaze
Emaze is an online presentation platform built on html5 technology. Users can create, manage and share their presentations through their cloud-based SaaS system. emaze offers a variety of templates including formats using 3D animations and video backgrounds.
Glogster EDU
Glogster EDU is a tool to create online multimedia "posters" that can incorporate all types of elements into a visual space: links, images, text, videos, music, and more. NOTE: I have used (attempted too use) Glogster EDU in the past and it has been very glitchy at Hartville. I am not sure if it is because our laptops are older or if it is something else. It is a really neat tool, but I have given up on it because of the issues I've experienced.
Nearpod
Nearpod allows teachers to construct presentations using the Nearpod website and deliver instruction to students by pushing content out to multiple devices at once. The teacher controls the presentation from a master device.
Pear Deck
With Pear Deck you can create interactive presentations and formative assessments to engage every student in your room, every day! Plan and build interactive presentation deck directly from your Google Drive. Launch a live, interactive session on the projector. Every Single Learner joins the live session on his or her device and participates. It’s fun, easy, and engaging! Pear Deck lives in your Google Drive and integrates with Google Classroom, so Google Apps for Business or Education (GAFE) users have a completely Frictionless Setup to get started.
Prezi
Prezi is a presentation tool that can be used as an alternative to traditional slide making programs such as PowerPoint. Instead of slides, Prezi makes use of one large canvas that allows you to pan and zoom to various parts of the canvas and emphasize the ideas presented there.
VoiceThread
VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables users to add images, documents, and videos, and to which other users can add voice, text, audio file, or video comments.
Zaption
Zaption transforms video-based learning with interactive content and tools that engage learners, deepen understanding, and track progress. Teachers, trainers and instructional designers use Zaption to quickly add images, text, and questions to existing online videos. NOTE: Several of the teachers I worked with at the Hollister School District use this and think highly of it.
