Engagement Tools
Below are some really great tools for engagement! While at the MoreNet Conference I was able to use and see several of these in action. As of right now, I use EdPuzzle in class and I really like it as a way to introduce new content! I am also looking at using either Pear Deck or Classflow in my classroom this year to make my lecture/note portion of class be more engaging. This, of course, will depend on how many of our students have access to technology regularly. If they all had it every day, then implementing these would be a breeze!
Nearpod
Nearpod allows teachers to construct presentations using the Nearpod website and deliver instruction to students by pushing content out to multiple devices at once. The teacher controls the presentation from a master device.
EdPuzzle
EDpuzzle is a site that allows users to select a video and customize it by editing, cropping, recording audio, and adding questions to make an engaging presentation or lesson.
EduCanon
eduCanon is an online learning environment to create and share interactive video lessons. Teachers begin with any YouTube, Vimeo, or TeacherTube video content (screencasts, Khan Academy, Minute Physics, TED, NOVA, etc.) and transform what is traditionally passive content into an active experience for students. NOTE: If your school blocks YouTube, your students won't be able to view any content created with YouTube videos. This is the sole reason I use EdPuzzle instead of eduCanon.
Pear Deck
With Pear Deck you can create interactive presentations and formative assessments to engage every student in your room, every day! Plan and build interactive presentation deck directly from your Google Drive. Launch a live, interactive session on the projector. Every Single Learner joins the live session on his or her device and participates. It’s fun, easy, and engaging! Pear Deck lives in your Google Drive and integrates with Google Classroom, so Google Apps for Business or Education (GAFE) users have a completely Frictionless Setup to get started.
ClassFlow
ClassFlow is a comprehensive instructional delivery system that increases the depth of student and teacher engagement by providing interactive and collaborative use of classroom devices, digital curriculum and assessments for learning.
Thinglink
ThingLink is the leading platform for creating interactive images and videos for web, social, advertising, and educational channels. Be creative! Make your images come alive with video, text, images, shops, music and more! Every image contains a story and ThingLink helps you tell your stories.
Zaption
Zaption transforms video-based learning with interactive content and tools that engage learners, deepen understanding, and track progress. Teachers, trainers and instructional designers use Zaption to quickly add images, text, and questions to existing online videos. NOTE: Several of the teachers I worked with at the Hollister School District use this and think highly of it.
